Stella Marie Novak, 72, of Joliet, IL, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. She was born in Aurora, IL on March 23, 1949 to the late Travis and Marie (Vester) Seabaugh.
Stella was employed for many years at Western Electric Company in Montgomery, IL. She also loved spending her free time volunteering at Schingoethe Center of Aurora University sharing her love for Cherokee and Shoshone culture with others. She would often take her grandchildren to powwows and taught them the art of Native American jewelry making. She was a beloved storyteller, fashion advisor, and spiritual guide. Stella was married to her first love, Andy, and they retired to Ladson, SC. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
Survived by her two daughters Sherrie Southard and husband Lonnie; daughter Laura Slodkowski and husband Tom; brother David Seabaugh and wife Luella; sisters-in-law Mary Alice Hansel and Gracie Novak; grandchildren Nichole Jakupovic and husband Haris, Rhett Morse, Kate Cunningham, Victoria Southard, and Lillie Slodkowski; great-grandchildren Jax and Eleanor Jakupovic; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband Roland “Andy” Novak; parents Travis and Marie (Vester) Seabaugh; in-laws Frank and Alyce (Hougham) Novak; her brothers-in-law Frank Novak and George “Doug” Hansel; nephew Travis Seabaugh: and beloved aunt Lillie Owen.
There will be an intimate burial service at River Hills Memorial Park 1650 S. River St., Batavia, IL 60510 on Tuesday,, January 18, 2022 at noon.
