In Loving Memory of St. Michael Emanuel Francis
November 13, 1953 – April 25, 2025
St. Michael Emanuel Francis, affectionately known as
"Mike," passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Naperville,
Illinois, at the age of 71. Born on November 13, 1953, in Kingston, Jamaica, he
was the eldest child of Headley Emanuel Francis and Iris Campbell Francis, who
preceded him in death.
Mike was a determined and hard-working man. He completed his
electrical apprenticeship in 1972 and began a lifelong career as a Journeyman
Electrician, proudly joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers Local 134. For nearly four decades, he served the City of Chicago with
dedication and pride.
He was the eldest of four siblings and is survived by his
brother Patrick Francis and sister Daphne Francis. He was preceded in death by
his beloved brother Lloyd Francis.
Above all, Mike loved family and in his retired years he would
never miss a family event he was invited to. He is survived by his three
children: Nathaniel Francis, Angelique Baskin (Spouse Douglas Baskin), and
Christina Adams (Spouse Cory Adams). One of his deepest prayers was to be
present to meet all of his grandchildren, and that prayer was beautifully
answered—he was blessed to meet all 23 of them (12 boys and 11 girls), each a
source of immense joy and pride.
Mike also leaves behind a large and loving extended family
of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and
great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. His circle of care and friendship
extended beyond family; he will be dearly missed by his faithful friends Lyle
Redmon and Ronald Jackson.
Mike’s memory will live on in the laughter of his
grandchildren, the stories shared by loved ones. We will forever cling to the
memories we shared and the love he gave so freely in his own unique way.
