Ruth E Utschig

Ruth E. Utschig, 81, of Naperville, IL, passed away March 18, 2024. Ruth  was born April 29, 1942, to Walter and Dorothy (Smits) Gauthier. Born in Green Bay and raised in DePere, Wisconsin, Ruth called Hubertus, Wisconsin home for over 47 years - raising her children & dogs there and providing a foundation for her many creative outlets (more on this below).

She is survived by her son, Brad (Michele), daughter, Lisa and grandsons: Ryan, Gavin and Nathan. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Rita Drewieske; in-laws Mary Gauthier and Lester Nett. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents; brother, Gene Gauthier; sister, Joan Matzke, in-laws Russell Matzke and John Drewieske, and her beloved pet (dog), Taffi.

Ruth was skilled in many endeavors and used her talents broadly. For nearly 45 years, Ruth was the proud owner & creator of Craftiques by Ruth, a specialty purveyor of Ruth's own handicrafts featuring her exquisitely (and often whimsical) hand-painted tole crafts and similar works. Throughout the year and especially during the holiday season you could find her at a variety of arts & crafts shows throughout Southeastern & South central Wisconsin.

In addition to working on her crafts, Ruth loved to sing in both local church & community choirs, fish with her family, play cards with family & friends and shamelessly spoil her dogs.

Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all those lives she touched.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10 AM, April 6th at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Naperville. Interment will be beside her husband at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, Wisconsin.
