Russell Soucek Obituary

Russell J. Soucek, lovingly known as Russ, age 79, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, passed away on June 12, 2026. Born on January 4, 1947, in Berwyn, Illinois, he lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, his work, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Russell was the loving husband of 40 years to Nancy (nee) Smith Soucek, and their marriage was a source of strength, companionship, and enduring love. He was a devoted brother to Gary Soucek and his wife, Marie, and a caring brother-in-law to Debby Liddell and her husband, Jim. He was a fond and cherished uncle to Daniel Lindell and his wife, Sarah,  Andrew Soucek and his wife, Lisa, Tom Lindell and his wife, Anna, and Amanda Hassan and her husband, Eslam, and special friend Stephan Espanola. Russell was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph and Irene Soucek, whose memory remained close to him throughout his life.

A man of deep Christian faith, Russell lived with kindness, humility, and a generous spirit. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he shared that faith through his actions, his service, and the way he treated others. For 20 years, he was a valued member of the Pastoral Care team at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bolingbrook, where he offered comfort, support, and a compassionate presence to those in need. His commitment to serving others reflected the loving and faith-filled life he led.

Russell also dedicated his professional life to banking, where he served for 50 years with Lakeside Bank. Over the course of five decades, he built a reputation for reliability, professionalism, and integrity. He approached his work with the same steady character that defined every part of his life, earning the respect of colleagues and customers alike. His long career was a testament to his dedication and work ethic.

Outside of work and church, Russell enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him joy. He loved watching NASCAR racing and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. These interests gave him many happy moments and were part of the rhythm of his everyday life. Whether following a race or watching a game, he found enjoyment in the traditions and excitement of the sports he loved.

Russell will be remembered as a loving, friendly, and faith-filled man whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around him. He had a gentle way about him and a sincere interest in others that made people feel welcome and valued. His life was one of quiet strength, steady devotion, and lasting love. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his faith, and the many ways he showed care for his family, his church, and his community.

He passed away in Bolingbrook, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, Russell’s memory will remain a blessing to his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
