Rose L. Lorenz
Rose L (Nee Stahl ). Lorenz, passed away peacefully, at the age of 82, on August 7, 2023. Rose was born on June 1, 1941, the daughter of Otto and Edna Stahl. At the age of seven, following the sudden death of her father, she moved from Ohio to the Mooseheart orphanage in Illinois, along with her eight living siblings and her mother. After graduation, she was employed by Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, IL, for 20 plus years in the Physics and Purchasing Departments. She married Raymond Jude Lorenz in 1960 and was a wonderful mother to her two children Wayne and Dawn. In her 60s, Rose found a great partner in Ted Zliwinski for several years until his death.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved making meals and entertaining at the house in Lockport, IL. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh with friends and family, and enjoyed traveling with her sisters and family. Rose also enjoyed gardening in the country and planting beautiful flowers every Memorial Day.
Anytime Rose would see someone in uniform, she would always greet them with a smile and say, “Thank you for your service.” She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
In addition, Rose loved all animals, dogs, cats, birds (her favorites were hummingbirds) and cows. Rose was loved by all her who knew her and had a contagious laugh and a beautiful smile and heart. She was an avid sports fan, especially fond of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Cubs.
Rose is survived by her children, Wayne (Marianne) Lorenz, Dawn (David) Passehl; her grandchildren Mark Lorenz, Bryan Lorenz, Jacqueline Passehl, and Katherine Passehl; and her siblings Shirley Aug, Jean Johnson, Don Stahl, Leroy Black, David Black, and Debbie Black. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Raymond, her brothers, Carl Stahl, Dale Stahl, Dick Stahl, and her sisters Dolly O’Neil, Betty Lou Carnes, and Jane Stahl.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, August 19th, at. St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1501 W Boughton Road Bolingbrook, IL, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Until Time of Funeral Mass at 10:30AM
Burial service will be held Monday morning, August 21st, for family and relatives at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL, at 11:00 a.m.
