Rodney Travis Paschal
Born on October 15, 1945 to James and Marjorie Paschal in Chicago, IL he married LaColun Jackson-Benimon on February 15th, 1964 and they remained married for 55 years. From their marriage were born three children, La’Shaun Jenae, Raymount Maurice and Melanie Delvaun.
Rodney’s accomplishments included:
Rodney was one of the first blacks hired by Western Electric, and was a supervisor at AT&T for most of his career. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member. He was a member of the singing group "The Summits" who later changed their name to "The 21st Century". One of their records "Toy Soldier" was played on WVON. The group included Charles Rhea, Burt Simmons, Tommy Garner and Jerome Brooks.
Rodney passed from this life on September 18th, 2018 at 6:45am. It was a beautiful sunrise.
Rodney leaves to mourn his passing: His wife of 55 years, LaColun, his brother Ronald and wife Purcellene, Three children La’Shaun Jenae and her husband Shaun McNicholas. Raymount Maurice and his wife Bonita. Melanie Delvaun and her husband Aaron Lockhart. Six grandchildren: Emily Alexandria, Tristen Keanen, Nya Kenae, Marcel Emmanuel, Trinity Simone, Solomon Silas and in loving memory his first grandson MiKyail Ladon… with one grandchild due to Melanie and Aaron in January of 2019.
