Robert Schmidt

Robert Francis Schmidt, 82, beloved husband of 58 years to Lorraine M. (nee Griffin), passed away peacefully at home on March 24. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew; mother, Mary; and brother, Otto. Dearest brother-in-law of Mike (Mary) Griffin and Barbara (the late Edward) Furey. Beloved uncle of Ed (Lynn) Furey, Diane (Rich) Cawley, Barbara (Keith) Kudrna, Jennifer Furey (Brian), Kelly (Tom) Suyko, Michael Griffin, Amy (Matthew) Mulick, Megan (Travis) Couture, and great-uncle to many adoring nieces and nephews. Graduate of Mount Carmel High School and Loyola University, and veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.

He was an enthusiastic member of the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club, and his model train layout brought joy to all his friends and family. He was a resident of Palos Park, IL, and The Island on Eagle Lake, WI.

A memorial mass will be held later this year.
