Rakesh (Rick) N. Malik

Rakesh (Rick) Nukalsen Malik, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Rick passed away from this world peacefully with his family by his side. Though he is not here, he is more alive than ever in the presence of God. 

He was born in Bombay, India on April 30, 1962, the only son of three children born to Usha Kripalani and Nukalsen Malik. Rick lived in India until he emigrated to America in 1988 and settled in Chicago. It was there he met and wooed his loving wife of 30 years, Janet, and together raised his four precious daughters, Natasha, Serena, Rebekah and Mia. 

First and foremost though, Rick loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. A humble man of faith, he longed for the day he would be reunited with his Creator and placed his hope in Jesus Christ. His life is marked by his unwavering trust in the Lord's promises. 

Rick lived to serve the Lord and one of the ways he served others was through his love of hospitality. Almost everyone who's met him has a story of his generosity or sharing and breaking bread with him in some way. He used his love of food to show people his big heart. 

A devoted father and husband, Rick loved his family fiercely. He raised his daughters to fear and love the Lord and made them feel beautiful and cherished. 

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Janet; daughters, Natasha, Serena, Rebekah and Mia; mother, Usha; sisters, Anu and Priya; and many other beloved family members.

Due to current circumstances, Rick will have a private burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL. Details of his future memorial service will be updated
