Orville Urich Obituary

Orville Herbert Urich, 91, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at his home in Batavia Illinois. Orville was born September 27, 1928 to Adolph and Sarah Urich in Batavia, Illinois, the youngest of seven children.

Orville served in the U.S. navy. He met his beautiful wife of 67 years, Lois (Martin) and they were later married in Aurora, Illinois.

Orville was very devoted in the Christian faith and was an active member of the Emmanuel Luther Church in Batavia, IL.  He served as trustee for many years with the church.  Orville was the oldest living member of the church in which he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1957 just outside of Batavia, IL city limits, Orville and Lois started to build their forever home on a corner farm field they purchased from his parents (Adolph and Sarah) and finished it in 1959 and lived there for 61 years until his death.  He was very proud of what he built.

Orville was a talented man and could do anything he put his mind too.  He started out his career by working for his brother’s (Phillip) concrete business but eventually switched over most of his talent into his career in the trades industry as a plumper / pipe fitter where he spent most of his career and he really enjoyed it.

Orville loved gardening, hunting, fishing and shooting his guns and wanted to pass down his skills he had honed over his lifetime to his kids by involving them in these same activities at an early age.

Orville is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Martin); daughters, Marcia Pump (Jim) and Shirley (Robert) Thorne; sons Thomas (Cheryl), Richard “Jed” (Jane), Joel (Sheri), and Matthew (Cathy); grandchildren, Jacob and Ben Urich, Jenny Sunleaf, Adam and Taryn Urich, Tyson and Morgan Urich, Luke Urich, and Katie and Lacey Thorne. Orville was preceded in death by his parents and older bothers Phillip, Arnold, and Adalbert (Debe), and older sisters Adelaide, Bernadine, and Lois.
