Michael J Schramm, 77, of Bolingbrook passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born February 14, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI to his parents Al and Sylvia (Reis) Schramm. Mike met the love of his life Dianne Ross and was married on March 6, 1965.
As a Wisconsin boy at heart he developed a deep appreciation for nature and a love of hunting and fishing. Mike had many interests and as the son of a blacksmith, loved to work with his hands. He had an aptitude for electronics that led to a 30-year career maintaining and repairing large mainframe computers. Continuing his passion for electronics, Mike finished his career spending 11 years at Alarm Detection Systems.
Mike spoke fondly of his time growing up in Milwaukee where he rode motorcycles, repaired cars, hunted, and camped at the lake.
After moving to Illinois, Mike continued to spend time with his hobbies where he built his own computer and other electronics he designed. Mike was a lover of all things radio controlled, but especially airplanes. He spent countless weekends at the flying field becoming a very accomplished builder and pilot. Never one to pursue a single hobby, Mike spent the last 20 years building a model train layout that eventually took up half of his basement.
Mike is survived by his wife Dianne, his four children Mark (Monica), Patrick (Heike), Kevin (Kendra) and Christopher (Brenda), his grandchildren, Anne, Melissa, Zach, Marissa, Ethan, Shannah, Megan, Kailyn, Kole, Chloe and Adam and great grandson, Weston. He leaves behind his sister Karen and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Rick and his sister Janice.
