Michael Earl Kroner, age 78 of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 9, 2022. He was born on December 5, 1943 in Glendale, California to his parents, the late Earl and Ruth Kroner. He spent a portion of his childhood in Washington state before moving to and spending his life in Illinois
Michael was a 1961 graduate of Argo High School and completed his electrician's apprenticeship in 1964. He was a Master Electrician throughout the span of his 40+ year career, and a proud member of IBEW Local 134. Over the course of his career, he played an integral role in lighting some of the state's most well-known attractions, landmarks, and infrastructure including U.S. Cellular Park, O'Hare International Airport, Chicago's deep tunnel system, and countless others.
Michael's family was his greatest passion. He enjoyed a vast array of interests including photography, CB radios, RV camping, film, music, and spending time with those he so deeply loved and cared for. He was a man of great character and personal conviction with strength and integrity that was instantly apparent to everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Elizabeth Kroner, loving children Shannon (Steve) Tallon, Jason Kroner (Eva Sworowska), Leigh Lofthouse (Rosemaria), Kevin Lofthouse, and Michael Robertson, and grandchildren Alexa (Cooper) Otwell, Max Lofthouse, Rees Lofthouse, He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Ric) Ulloa and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Karen Smith.
A private interment ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 14th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bolingbrook, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that he be memorialized through donations, in his name, to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, an organization that he was deeply proud of and committed to supporting.
