Marie Harris

Marie Harris, "ReBaby," was born on June 10, 1933, in Yazoo, MS. At the age of 35, Marie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and never looked back. She made it her aim to live a life pleasing to the Lord. Marie united with and was a faithful member of Christ Healing Temple of Hopkins Park. She was a founding member of Hope Life Church and she later united with Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church. Marie is survived by her two siblings: Hattie Mae Strickland and Jerry Harris: her loving children: Ernestine Woods, Mary Delores Douglas (Joe), William "Bobby" Redmond, and Maxine Ross (Ed); along with 13 cherished grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Hattie (Mitchell) Harris: her four sisters: Beulah Collins, Lillie Bell Newkirk, Beatrice Price, and Sarah Harris: her six brothers: George, Alvin, Earl, Eddie, Robert, Virgil; and three of her seven children: Wanda Rena Holt, Cheryl Elaine Redmond, and Johnnie Lee Redmond, as well as her eldest granddaughter, Vernita Antoinette Patterson. Mother Harris was deeply committed to her faith and her family. She wore many hats in the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and cook, to name a few. She loved to sew and crochet, often making clothes for her loved ones. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed solving 500-piece puzzles and spent countless joyful hours surrounded by family, as anything to do with them brought her immense happiness. ReBaby, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing to all.
