Lawrence "Larry" Hill

Lawrence “Larry” Hill was born on December 24, 1941, and peacefully passed away on September 23, 2022, with family and friends by his side.  He attended Kelvin Grove Grammar School and graduated from Lockport Township High School in May 1960. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Governors State University in December 1991. Larry received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in June 1973, where he served as an Industrial Engineer.  Larry continued working as an Industrial Engineer in his civilian life after becoming an Affiliate of The American Institute of Industrial Engineers in 1973 and Member of The American Institute of Industrial Engineers in 1980.

Larry was committed to his Catholic faith and served as a member of the Knights of Columbus in his parish since 2003. He was also an honorable member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Maywood-Wheaton Alumni Chapter since 1996.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Hill, and Sara Sims Hill of Joliet, IL. He was the loving husband of 59 years to Faye C. Valdery Hill of Bolingbrook, IL. The loving brother to late Wade Hill and late William Ray Hill, Sr. of Joliet, IL. The cherished father of Eric W. Hill of Crest Hill, IL and Dionne “Yonnie” Hill of Bolingbrook, IL.  Devoted grandfather to Desiree “Desi” L. Hill of Bolingbrook, IL. He affectionally stepped in as a surrogate father to his nieces, after the death of their father, Regina “Gina” Payton of Joliet, IL, Rhonda Payton (Matthew) Heath of Shorewood, IL, and Tajmah L. Payton of Bolingbrook, IL.

Caring brother-in-law to late Dieral Valdery of New Orleans, LA, Norma Valdery Cummings of Bolingbrook, IL, late Patricia “Pat” A. (Paul) Summers of New Lenox, IL, Lillian “Marie” Carson of Decatur, AL, late Larry V. Valdery of Joliet, IL, late Cornell “Connie” (Lester) Graves of Joliet, IL, and Joseph “Joe” (Brenda) Valdery of New Orleans, LA.

Fond uncle to late Patrice “Trice” Cummings Owens of Decatur, AL, late Marland Starks of Joliet, IL, Anna Hill (Larry) Strong of Calumet City IL, Robin Hill of Oklahoma City, OK, William Ray Hill, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV., Nicole “Nikki” Graves of Joliet, IL, Norma “Tasha” Graves, of Joliet, IL, Larry Valdery of Joliet, IL, Shawn Valdery of Joliet, IL, late Demetrius J. Carson of Decatur, AL, Ashley Carson of Decatur, AL,  Bernell Fazande of New Orleans, LA, and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews. He was the caring nephew to late Chester Sims of Joliet, IL, and late Johnnie Sims.  Those also left with a void of his absence include a host of life-long friends.
