Jerome (Jerry) E Martin Jr

Jerome E. Martin Jr., known lovingly as Jerry and referred to by he/him pronouns, was born on July 5, 1957, in Hinsdale, Illinois, and passed away on June 27, 2026, in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Jerry was 68 years old and made his home in Joliet and Romeoville, Illinois. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend. His life was marked by kindness, laughter, and a steady presence that brought comfort and joy to those around him. Those who knew Jerry best will remember him as a man who was loving, kind, and funny, with a warm spirit that made others feel welcome and valued.

He was the loving husband of Debra Lynn Martin, with whom he shared a life built on devotion, companionship, and enduring love. Together, they created a family rooted in care and commitment. Jerry took great pride in his role as a father to Tanya Martin and Jerome E. Martin III, and he embraced that responsibility with tenderness, strength, and unwavering support. His children knew him as a steady source of encouragement and guidance, and his love for them remained constant throughout his life.

Jerry was also a devoted grandfather to Michael Larkins, Anthony Martin, Grant Larkins, Olivia Oblazny, and Sophia Oblazny. He found great joy in his grandchildren and treasured the special bond he shared with each of them. Whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or simply his reassuring presence, he leaves behind memories that will be held close by his family for years to come. His grandchildren will remember him as a man whose love was sincere and whose heart was generous.

He was a loving brother to Cheryl Setterbro, Sandra Burke, Michael Rollberg, and Meg Ringbauer. The bond he shared with his siblings was an important part of his life, and he valued family deeply. Jerry’s presence in the lives of his brothers and sisters was one of loyalty, humor, and affection, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and love they shared.

 Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Josephine Martin, along with brother Jim Barnett.

Jerry was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, and throughout his life he carried with him the values of hard work, family, and friendship. He lived in a way that reflected his caring nature and his ability to bring people together. His sense of humor and easygoing personality made him someone others enjoyed being around, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A member of Moose Lodge #300 in Joliet, Illinois, since 2017, Jerry found fellowship and camaraderie among friends who shared in his interests and appreciation for community. His involvement there was another reflection of the way he valued connection and belonging. He enjoyed being part of a group where friendship and good company were cherished, and he carried that same spirit into all areas of his life.

Jerry’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength. He will be remembered not only for the roles he filled, but also for the love he gave so freely and the joy he brought to others. His legacy is one of family devotion, faithful friendship, and a life lived with heart. Though he is no longer physically present, the love he shared will continue to surround his family and friends in the days ahead.
