Henrietta E. Scordato

Henrietta E. Scordato, age 93, of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, with family and friends by her side.

Henrietta was the loving sister of the late Alice Radivan and the late Robert Hansen. She was the cherished mother of Sandra Flake (Sam), the late Edward Scordato, Diana Kujath (Richard), and Vincent Scordato (Kristie). She was a devoted grandmother to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Henrietta spent more than 10 years as a baker at Pepperidge Farm before retiring from Tricon Industries, where she worked inspecting parts. After retirement, one of her greatest joys was caring for her granddaughters, Nicole Scordato and Danielle Hahn, filling their days with love, laughter, and memories they will always cherish.

Henrietta's greatest gift was making a house feel like home. After moving to Bolingbrook in 1962, she spent more than 60 years in the same home, where countless family meals, holidays, birthdays, and celebrations took place around her table.

She showed her love through cooking and baking. Family gatherings weren't complete without her homemade kolachy, flaky apple strudel, cream puffs, and the apple pies everyone hoped she'd bring. Her pork tenderloin, sweet-and-sour red cabbage, potato salad, chicken soufflé, and pork chops with gravy made in her well-seasoned cast-iron pan became cherished family favorites. No one ever left Henrietta's table hungry.

Henrietta also found joy outdoors, tending her garden, feeding hummingbirds, and caring for the treasured rose bush passed down from her grandmother—a living reminder of the family roots she cherished and one whose descendants continue to bloom in the gardens of her children and grandchildren.

She had a special place in her heart for animals and always had a faithful dog by her side. Most recently, Coco, her beloved chocolate Labrador, and Tinker Bell, her spirited dachshund, brought her years of companionship and joy. After Tinker Bell passed, Bailey and Harley—her son Vince and daughter-in-law Kristie's devoted Dobermans—became her honorary granddogs. They knew exactly where to find Grandma and the extra treats she always had waiting for them, and their visits brought her as much happiness as they did them.

Henrietta never sought the spotlight and would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. She will be remembered for the warmth of her kitchen, the beauty of her garden, the love she shared so freely with family and friends, and the quiet strength and kindness that defined her life.

If you knew Henrietta, chances are you remember something she made especially for you—a favorite dessert, a comforting meal, a flower from her garden, a treat slipped to your dog when no one was looking, or simply the feeling of being welcomed into her home. Those small acts of love were never small to the people who received them. They were Henrietta's way of caring for others, and they are the legacy she leaves behind.
