Hedwig ( Hedy) B Barton

Hedwig (known as “Hedy”) Bridget Jasbec Barton 1923 - 2022 Married for 68 years to Robert Barton, who preceded her in death in 2015. 1 Son (Keith Barton who preceded her in death in 2017, married to Marti Mahar Barton) 2 Grandchildren (Robert Barton, married to Maybelle Krieter Barton; and Erica Barton) 2 Great-grandchildren (MacKenzie Barton, 14; and Skylar Barton, 10) She attended mass every week until her health prevented her attendance. She was active at St. Denis in Chicago. Sang in the choir, taught at St. Denis primary school when her son Keith was young and was attending the school. She and Robert were active volunteers with the Boy Scouts when their son Keith was involved. (He earned his Eagle Scout, and they were actively involved the whole time.) Served as an Election Judge for decades in Chicago. Served on a citizens committee for the Ashburn Post Office in Chicago. She and her husband taught hunter and gun safety for the Department of Natural Resources for over 40 years. She and her husband were avid members of several square dancing groups for over 30 years. They were world travelers both on their own and with their square dancing groups. She was an accomplished couture-level seamstress. During her lifetime, she made over 750 garments, including matching square dancing outfits for her husband and herself. Was a bookkeeper before her retirement. Mass of Christian  Burial at 10:30AM on March  21, 2022. St Francis Catholic Church, Bolingbrook, IL  Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL
