Gail Marie Pelhank, 74, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on June 27, 2023, after a prolonged battle with congestive heart failure.
Gail was born on January 28, 1949, to Paul and Theodora Medica (Tokoph) in Chicago, IL. After graduating from Lakeview High School in 1967, she completed an Associate Degree from Wright College.
In 1970, she married her former husband, Lee Pelhank, and went on to have two children, Scott and Bradley Pelhank. Gail spent her career in the medical field as a billing coordinator. She was very active in her church, charitable groups, and as a Hospice volunteer.
After retirement, she relocated to Downers Grove from Bloomington, IL to be close to her two sons, grandchildren, and family. Gail was a devout Christian, spending much of her free time supporting various church events, charitable work, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and family. She was a selfless, caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Gail was predeceased by her parents, Paul Medica and Theodora Tokoph, and brother, John Tokoph. She is lovingly survived by her two sons, Scott (Rebecca) Pelhank and Bradley (Trisha) Pelhank; her beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sydney Pelhank and Jackson, Joseph, and Kinley Pelhank; sister, Carol Kussman, and brother, Jim Tokoph; and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of St. Patrick’s Nursing home for their kind and compassionate care provided to Gail in her final months, as well as the amazing Residential Hospice team that supported her in her final weeks.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 27, at 3:00 PM with Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at Four Corners Community Church, 8251 South Lemont Rd., Darien, IL. Interment will be Friday, July 28, at 10:30 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Four Corners Community Church or Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
