Flora Kamibayashiyama

Flora Espique Kamibayashiyama (nee Fabros), 88, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, August 20, 2024. Beloved mother of Esther(David) Lennard, Philip(Mila), Gabriel(Tylene), Edgar(Marlyn) and Julian(Sheryl). Cherished grandmother of Timothy (Alyssa), Jonathan (Damaris), Autumn, Joy, Mark, Lauren, Rayna, Zackary, Paul, Brianne, Jordan, Dylan, Willow and Blake and great-grandmother to Elsie. And treasured sister of Fruto “Frank” (Lulu) and Urbano “Jun”, and Esther (Domingo). As well as loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. 

Flora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward “Ed”, her parents, Urbano and Irene Fabros, three brothers, Rolando, Venerio, Domingo “Nimitz”, and three sisters Zenaida, Pura and Erlinda. 

Flora was born in Tarlac, Tarlac Philippines and graduated among the top of her nursing class from the University of the Philippines in 1960. Soon after completing her training as a registered nurse, Flora moved to Chicago to pursue her nursing career. After arriving, she met a dashing young man studying Bible at Moody Bible Institute. She and Ed were married in Chicago in 1964. Flora worked in many of Chicago’s top hospitals over the years including Michael Reese Hospital and Hinsdale Hospital. 

Flora loved gardening, trading on the stock market, and buying and selling real estate, she loved her grandchildren dearly and delighted in telling stories about their accomplishments.  Flora was saved as a young adult and faithfully attended church with her husband, Ed. They were  longtime active members of First Baptist Church of Cicero and in later years, became faithful members of Marquette Manor Baptist Church of Downers Grove.  

Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2024 from 5PM to 8PM at Marquette Manor Baptist Church 333 W. 75th Street Downers Grove, IL. 

Funeral Service Saturday August 31, 2024 at 10AM at Church with Interment to follow at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, IL.
