Emily Rae Chika

Emily Rae Chika 26 of Bolingbrook IL.

Emily peacefully passed away on December 8, 2020 with her family by her side.  Emily was the loving daughter of John and Diane Chika. Cherished sister of Heather Chika and Katie Price (Johnathan). Loving niece to Nancy Chika, Steve (Debbie) Chika, and Doreen (Kene) Whybrew. Loving cousin to many.  Proceeded in death by her grandparents John and Grace Chika, Walter and Valerie Poggendorff, and her Uncle Alan Poggendorf.

Emily loved going on many family vacations where she was able to travel the United States. Her favorite trips were her Make-A-Wish trip to Hawaii, many trips to Disney, gambling in Vegas, 3000 mile road trip from CA to IL, and many, many trips to the family lake house where boat rides were her favorite. She attended ISMRD conventions with her penguin friends. She also enjoyed seeing her old school friends each year at the Knights of Columbus Christmas party in Bolingbrook.

Emily will be greatly missed. We want to thank everyone who came in contact with Emily and helped and supported her along the way.

ISMRD is an organization that researches treatments and cures for Alpha Mannosidosis and related storage diseases. Our hope is that some day there will be treatments available for other children and families.

Emily’s funeral will take place Monday December 14, 2020, 12pm at Chapel Hill Garden West in the Trinity Garden. 17W201 Roosevelt Rd Oakbrook Terrance, IL 60181 Only 10 people are allowed to be at the grave site at a time. Families are allowed to watch from the street side. Once the our family steps to the side, we ask everyone to join together and sing “Silent Night”. Once our family goes back to the car, visitors may walk up to say goodbye 10 people at a time. Masks are required. Due to COVID we hope to have a celebration of her life in the future
