Elias "Eli" Vaca Contreras unexpectedly passed away peacefully with his family at his side on October 10, 2021. Eli was welcomed into this life by his parents Elias Contreras and Evelia Vaca de Contreras. He loved his parents so very much. He was blessed to have found, and married, the love of his life Paula (Stanovich) and be blessed with their son, Elijah P. Contreras (who was also his “BFF”). Early on in his life, he beamed with pride as the cherished father of all sons, including Elias Snyder (oldest) and Jacob Contreras among them. Eli was the loving brother to Jesus (Ruth) Vaca, Esther Torres, Amaparo Escobedo, Raul (Vasthi) Lopez, Enrique (Laura) Lopez, Daniel (Teresa) Lopez, Rafael (Monique) Lopez, Irma (Mark) Sabala, and twin sister Eva (Manuel) Magana. Eli was the fond uncle to many nieces and nephews, Godson, cousin, nephew, and a cherished friend to many.
This gentle giant, who never met a stranger he didn’t like, was the life of the party and would often say, “too blessed to be stressed”. He found joy and happiness in some of life’s simplest pleasures: he loved the country life, spending time with his family, traveling (especially to Arizona for Cubs Spring training) & road trips to Tennessee, yearly apple & pumpkin picking trips to County Line Orchard, listening to all genres of music including country music and Los Bukis. He loved watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and was the biggest Cubs fan you’d ever meet, “Cubby Blue”. He cried when the Cubs won the World Series. Elias loved the Lord and will be missed dearly. “Until we meet again my friend, God bless you and be with you always…we love you.”
