Edward P Sandzimier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Peter Sandzimier, who

went to his heavenly home on December 13, 2023.

Edward was the loving husband of Gail Sandzimier for 54 years.

Loving brother to Joe and Bobby Sandzimier and Kathleen Forejt.

Cherished father of Greta Sandzimier (Jay Crowder), Amy (Marc) Hunter, Karl

Sandzimier and Myra (Rick) Bertling.

Devoted grandfather to Jake Sandzimier, Lauren and Leah Bertling, and Ethan and Ella

Hunter.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents John Sandzimier and Catherine

Wesolowski, brothers Frank, Marion, and Bernie Sandzimier, sisters Theresa Shal, Nellie

Wise, Ginnie Zimmerman, and Sally Sandzimier.

Edward was born and raised in Scottdale , Pennsylvania, surrounded by a close knit

large family.

In his early twenties, Edward proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army

for three years, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His sense of

duty and sacrifice during his military service reflected the strength of character that

would define his life.

After his military service, Edward married Gail Johnston in August 1969 and they settled in Bolingbrook, Illinois, in 1975 where he was a proud resident for 48 years raising his family with his loving wife.

Throughout his entire career, Edward worked diligently as an accountant, demonstrating a commitment to excellence that earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Edward’s passions in life were as varied as they were deep-rooted. He found solace

and joy in the simple pleasures of yard work, including meticulously caring for his lawn. His

love for his family was immeasurable and he took great pride in being a devoted

husband, father, and grandfather.

Faith played a central role in Edward’s life, gifting him with strength and guidance. His

spiritual journey as a devout Catholic was a source of inspiration for those who knew

him, reflecting in his kind and patient nature.

Edward’s friends and family fondly remember him as a man of unparalleled patience

and boundless determination. Whether working tirelessly in his profession or spending

quality time with loved ones, he approached life with a quiet resilience that left a lasting

impact on everyone he encountered.

In his memory, let us celebrate the life of Edward Peter Sandzimier—a man who

exemplified the virtues of hard work, devotion, and love. As we mourn his passing, may

we find comfort in the legacy of warmth and kindness he leaves behind. Edward will be

dearly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of

knowing him.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday December 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic

Catholic Church 440 E. Briarcliff Rd Bolingbrook, IL. Interment to follow at 1:00PM
