Donald Johnson Obituary

Donald Johnson, Sr. was born December 6, 1955, to the union of JC Johnson and Annie White Johnson, in Chicago, IL. He attended Dunbar Vocational High School in Chicago, and later graduated from Quitman County High School in Marks, Mississippi. He joined the United States Army in 1974 and received an Honorable Discharge. He later worked at Stateville Correctional Center for 25 years and retired as a Correctional Lieutenant K3-41.

On October 10, 1996 he met the love of his life, Leonardra Lakes and they later joined in Holy Matrimony. Donald's blended family consisted of his two sons and Leondra's one son. They enjoyed traveling, and each other's company. He accepted Christ at an early age. He loved spending time with his family and thought he was the number one Grill Master, and of course, everyone had to taste his sauce. He also enjoyed Bid Whist, Dominoes, Poker, and beating everyone at their game. In addition, he enjoyed TV and movies, some of his favorites included horror movies, crime shows, and Westerns.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Left to cherish his memories include his loving and devoted wife, Leonardra Lakes, sons Donald Jr. and DeAngelo Johnson, 5 step-children, and two beloved grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings Joann White, Linda Johnson, Lisa (Charlie) Cannon, Anthony Johnson, Bernard (Simone) Johnson, Bobbie Johnson, and Michael Johnson. Those also left with the void of his absence include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
