Carmen M (Rivera) Barreto

Carmen Milagros Barreto (Rivera) passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon, at 5:05 pm, CST on December 13, 2018, with her family by her side.

She was 70 years young and a beloved & devoted Mother to William (Son - Bill) & Yolanda Barreto (Daughter-in-Law) and Melissa (Daughter) and Joe Landeroz (Son-in-Law). 

Loving Sister to Ray (Brother) & Brenda Rivera (Sister-in-Law) and Maria (Mitzi - Sister) & Willie Camacho (Brother-in-Law (RIP)).

Cherished Grandmother of Elena, Yazmin, Nayland and Joey. 

Beloved Aunt of Will, Lizette, Elizabeth, Jennifer and many nephews & nieces. Devoted friend of many.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Margarita Rivera. 

She was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago with her parents when she was entering elementary school at the age of 5 years old.  A true Chicagoan!  She was a proud retired Pre-School Teacher in the Southside of Chicago for over 21 years and loved children.

Throughout her life, she showered those around her with acts of selfless love and kindness for friends and family.  Carmen was known for her vibrant nature, optimism, humility, wisdom, generosity, encouragement, patience, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Carmen’s family will receive family and friends on Friday December 21, 2018 beginning at 9:30 AM for the Memorial Visitation until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Community Catholic Church: 2003 Hassert Blvd, Naperville, Illinois 60564
